These 5-1/4" side cutters are made to cut heavier OR harder wires, such as memory wire, steel earwires and heavier-gauge soft jewelry wires.   They are diagonal or side cutters, which means that they leave chisel points on the wire that they have cut, and are not considered flush cutters.     Carbon steel metal with lap-joint construction.
