    Description

Large, heavy Cast Iron Eagle originally mounted on boilers made by the Heine Safety Boiler Company in St. Louis.
This is an early one, base dated 1911.
These eagles were mounted above the steam gauge with a lamp suspended above (in front of the gauge) with a cord coming out of the eagle's mouth to light the gauge.
Engineers on the Southern Railway would acquire one of these eagles and mount them above the headlight on the locomotives.  (Photos can be found in example).
The wingspan of the eagle is 31."
From the back of the tail feathers to the tip of the nose, measures 12."
It stands 9 1/2" tall, without the 1911 cast iron base.  With the cast iron base it measures 12 1/2" tall.
It was painted by someone (signature on the side) in 1978.
I have taken several photos for you to enlarge and visually judge the condition.  I would consider it in good condition with some surface rust here and there, as seen.
The eagle is heavy at approximately 50 pounds.
The base attaches to the eagle with bolts that are present and included.
