    ROBERT STEPHENSON'S ROCKET - UNASSEMBLED KIT
    This Buy It Now item is for a railway modelling kit by OcCre.  It is 1:24 scale model of the ROCKET designed by Robert Stephenson in 1829.  The box was opened.  The clear plastic case is still taped shut - Photo 5.
    It has assembly instructions coordinated with a booklet of colored photos of each step.
    We consulted with OcCre and they have concluded based on pictures sent to them that no parts appear to be missing.
    Their email, included with this item, also states that, if upon assembly there is a missing part(s), the purchaser is covered by the OcCre Customer Guarantee and the part(s) will be shipped free.
    In 1829 the Liverpool and Manchester
    Railway
    held the Rainhill Trials to find the best locomotive for their line.
    The winner, from a field of five entries, was George Stephenson and his
    Rocket
    . This
    locomotive
    , which only weighed 4.2 tons, had a multi-tubular boiler, almost 6 ft long with a diameter of 3 ft 4 in, that was of great efficiency in terms of heat transfer. The pistons, in the cylinders, which were set at an inclined position, were coupled up to 4 ft 8 in diameter drive wheels, and she was capable of reaching speeds of up to 25 mph.
    Because of her characteristics, the
    Rocket
    was the first useful and practical
    locomotive
    in terms of transporting passengers and goods, launching a new age in the history of transport.
