Pincushion Paperweight One of A Kind Quilted Octagon Patchwork Organic Fill and Cotton Fabric.
I have used botanical cotton prints to piece One of a Kind blocks for this handcrafted and machine quilted pincushion that works as a desktop paperweight too.
Two different octagon blocks have been used to construct the pincushion. One octagon block is used for the front of the pincushion, and one octagon block is used for the back of the pincushion. The batting is cotton. The blocks have been quilted with green thread. The pincushion measures approximately 4 inches by 4 inches.
The pincushion/paperweight is filled with brown rice. The rice provides stability along with a little weight and acts as an organic humidity regulator. Rice is a desiccant. Desiccants absorb moisture. If your sewing room has humidity, the rice will help your needles stay oxide free.
This octagon pincushion could be the perfect little gift for your sewing or quilting enthusiast friend, and it makes a colorful desktop paperweight too.
