    Description

Vintage 16MM B&W Mickey Mouse Disney Film Mickey’s Rhythm Boys w/PLUTO
I believe this is a film strip originally intended for home distribution from the early 1930s. My photos are only so good, and the actual film has better resolution. There is a Title Leader, an animal band on stepped stage with Mickey conducting (beginning and end of film), a dog trombone solo, and a “The End” segment. The dog solo is most of the film.
The dog in the film looks like Disney’s Pluto. Pluto was developed in the early 1930s and was named after the planet was discovered about that time. The title page shows “Walt Disney Productions, Ltd” – this company name was used starting the end of 1929. By 1938 “Walt Disney Productions, Ltd” and several other companies were merged into
    "Walt Disney Productions".
The movie name, “Mickey’s Rhythm Boys”, does not seem to be on any Disney movie lists I can find. The subject matter suggests maybe the film was part of the Silly Symphonies cartoon series, but I can’t find the title listed with those either. (The title may be rare or just mistitled – I don’t know enough about Disney films to know).
Film seems to be about 25 feet and is on a larger reel, 3¾” diameter. The film seems in good condition. The leader has been spliced together with scotch tape, and early in the film a couple of inches of one side of the sprocket holes is damaged. The film is marked “Safety”, "3 REC" and “AGFA”. A common form of damage for Safety Film is Vinegar Syndrome – there is no vinegar odor.
Item seems to be original and from the early 1930s.
